PAX Tools: A Case Study of Evidence-based Strategies Implementation with Diffusion across the System of Care

This illustrative case study documents programmatic diffusion across the system of care when
implementing evidence-based strategies for behavior in a congregate care home. Interviews and performance
indicator reports comprised data analyzed. Theme analysis offered insight into a shift from historical behavior
interventions of correction to those focused on behavior as a skillset (a guiding principle in PAX Tools
strategies, a commercially available program made up of a collection of evidence-based behavioral health
strategies). Chronicling the Red Hawk Ranch case offers perspective to future congregate care management
pursuing a shift in behavior programming that concomitantly meets state and/or national accreditation
standards.
